What Are You Doing Today?

Many of you may have noticed my repeated references to Mur Lafferty's blog and podcast. Here's just one example of why I read/listen to her, and why I think everyone else should as well. Click the link. Watch the video.

Go ahead, I'll wait.

Yeah.

Writers, turn off the internet and get some writing done. Okay, you can keep the internet up long enough to enter the first line / first paragraph contest currently being held by fellow writing-blogger Katie, but that's it.

If you're unemployed and you think you've checked every possible job listing site out there... go check again. Or do a full refresh check of your regular haunts and expand your search terms.

And when's the last time you got some exercise?

Now, I have to go outside and run some errands I've been dreading, including a trip to the gym. Want some accountability? Tell us in the comments what you should be doing today. And then go do it.

  1. I should be at the bank, post office, and Sam's Club. I will be there...eventually :)

    Thanks for the challenge!

  2. Okay, in the last three hours I've returned some new clothes I don't need (that I bought in DECEMBER), demanded that the drycleaner reimburse us for damage done to our shirts, and installed a much-needed shelf in our laundry room. Lunch, then back to fight the good fight some more...

  3. We writers tend to make a lot of excuses for not meeting our goals! Since we're the bosses we can usually get away with slacking on the job. The trick is getting that inner boss to crack down on the slacker, right?!

  4. Oi, is that ever a long list. I should be calling for estimates to put in a gate, bumped in priority by the very crazy encounter with a neighbor yesterday, calling for estimates on tree removals, mowing either the front or back, laundry, laundry and more laundry, unpacking more stuff, writing more thank you cards, getting together stuff for the yard sale and thinking about prices, exercising - which really should be higher on the list, writing, picking classes since I register tomorrow... except I can't find the little book so I have to do that too...

    I can't go on...

  5. I'm going to the gym today. I don't want to (oh, the many ways in which I don't want to!), but I'm going. Now, where are my pants...?
