Cat's Away

Things I do when my husband is out of town for the evening:
  • Wear those jeans I like even though I haven't had them hemmed yet and have to roll them up, which he thinks makes me look shorter and dumpier than I am;
  • Wear that sweater that I love and he hates;
  • Eat takeout Thai food for dinner instead of cooking;
  • Write blog posts instead of, say, making the bed;
  • Plan to stay up late finishing a short story;
  • Instead stay up late watching a movie that we both love, but that we've both seen a billion times (I have a higher threshold for re-viewing than he does);
  • Miss him terribly.

  1. Just throwing it out there, writing blog posts is much more fun than making beds, and, arguably, much more productive. But that's just my opinion.

  2. LOL! Enjoy the evening :) Eat Thai, drink wine, be merry and wear whatever takes your fancy :)

  3. I only make my bed when my mother is coming over. And sometimes not even then. Someday I will be the person who makes her bed. But today is not that day.

  4. Dominique, I'm right there with you, but I can see how a nicely made bed makes for a more relaxing experience when returning from a long day at the office...

    And eating garlic we can fortunately do together.

  5. Since right now my wife is working out of the house and I'm not, I "make" the beds, but not like she ever would-- at least they're kind of passable. Usually I eat at home, but sometimes I will go out for some take out of something she normally wouldn't like. And if I'm in the mood I might play music louder than I would when she's here. But it's alway nice to see her when she gets home.

  7. When my husband is away I eat sushi. He hates sushi. And I watch Underworld. He hates vampire movies.

    Really, that's about it. Not bad considering we've been living together for umpty-zillion years. I can contain my sushi-vampire needs the rest of the time when he's around. It's a small price to pay for his good company.

    Enjoy the late-night-pants-rolling writing time, though. Sometimes it's good to miss the one you love. Then when they return you can get right back to the taking-for-granted thing.
